Welcome to my Woodturning Pages |
||
I've enjoyed wood working including wood turning for many years. When I retired in January 2010, I started turning wood bowls, pepper mills, pens and other hand crafted items as gifts for friends and family. In early 2011 I decided to offer my hand crafted items for sale to the public. Now I'm back to turning for my own enjoyment and I've gotten into Ornamental Turning with Rose Engine Lathes and related machinery. In addition to wood working and wood turning I've also build many of my tools including a dedicated bowl lathe, Rose Engine Lathes and several other tools and accessories. |

![]() I rough turned the green wood into the general shape of the bowl, then put the rough turned bowl on the shelf to dry. As the bowl dried several large cracks and many smaller cracks appeared in the darker burl wood. I was about to pitch the bowl into the fire wood bin when I decided to try save it by filling the cracks. If I tried to match the wood color, it would look like a bowl with cracks filled with wood putty, so I decided to fill the cracks with a Turquoise Inlay material to accent the cracks, not hide the cracks. I think it turned out beautifully. |
